They are responsible for the oversight and management of the Se li Ksanka Q ispe Project, a three-unit hydro plant located just 5 miles from Polson. With a capacity to generate 208 MW of electricity, the project produces an average of 1.1 million MWh annually, enough to power 100k-110k homes every year. EKI is committed to bringing renewable energy to markets across the United States, operating in compliance with their FERC license and prioritizing the preservation and protection of cultural, wildlife, and natural resources for future generations. As a federally chartered corporation, EKI is recognized for its leadership in exercising sovereign powers to preserve and protect the Flathead Reservation's traditional homeland. They are co-licensees of FERC Project No. 5, the Seli Ksanka Qlispe Project, located on tribal land along the Lower Flathead River. Despite facing intense public criticism due to unique hydrologic conditions in 2023, EKI managed Flathead Lake levels to balance license requirements, drought management, flood control, recreation, and the protection of aquatic species downstream. As they continue to operate the SKQ Project in 2024, EKI remains dedicated to providing clean, carbon-free power and contributing to a sustainable future.Generated from the website
