Michelle is originally from a small rural town in Maine. She earned a bachelor's degree in Science from Unity College in Unity, Maine. A few years later, she completed her nursing degree from The University of New England in Portland, Maine. She has worked as a Registered Nurse in Maine, Hawaii, and Colorado specializing in labor and delivery for more than 11 years prior to returning to school to complete her master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Michelle has always loved working with women and wanted to have a career where she could assure every woman who desires midwifery care has that option."I see my role as a Nurse-Midwife to be a partnership. This partnership is based on the premise of shared decision making. Shared decision making is a collaborative process that empowers women and their families, along with the guidance of their midwife to make healthcare treatment decisions together by taking into account the best scientific evidence available, as well as their values and preferences. I will work hard to foster this partnership with the women I serve and look forward to developing deep connections and long-lasting relationships caring for women and their families."As a Nurse-Midwife, Michelle is passionate about empowering women to trust in their intuition and innate ability to birth their babies in a safe supportive space. She is looking forward to supporting women's health across the lifespan from adolescence to pregnancy and childbirth through menopause. When she is not at work, Michelle spends all of her spare time exploring the great outdoors with her husband and dog. She especially enjoys gardening, birding, hiking, camping, and skiing.
