The Durham Company was founded and organized in 1959 by Roy Durham in Washington, Mo. Durham was a leading design engineer with the Binkley utility division of Binkley Manufacturing Company. The company s initial products were meter sockets, polyphase enclosures and test blocks for the electric utility industry. Through the 1960s, the product line was expanded to include combination socket/breaker and socket/transfer switch units for the farmstead. By the early 1970s, it was a significant supplier to regional investor-owned utilities. During this time, it also was a major supplier to the Midwest rural electric cooperatives and electric municipalities. Product design and development of pad mount equipment started in the 1980s. The Durham Company maintains its corporate headquarters in Lebanon, Mo.
