Southport Animal Hospital is a full service small animal facility, conveniently located off of Hwy. 291 S. and Persels Road in Lee's Summit, Missouri. There are two licensed full-time veterinarians on staff: Dr. Laura Williams, owner, and Dr. Brett Miles. The practice is fully staffed with one registered veterinary technician, two veterinary assistants, four kennel assistants, four groomers and three receptionists to assist you in every aspect of loving animal care. Southport Animal Hospital offers a full line of veterinary services and treatments including wellness exams, vaccinations, in-house blood and lab work, surgery (including CO2 laser), radiographs, dental cleaning and extractions, and microchip placement. We have three patient exam rooms, a large treatment area, two surgery rooms, an isolation room, a large reception/waiting area, indoor/outdoor kennels, and onsite grooming department. Let us take care of your pet while you are away! Our excellent kennel staff is highly motivated to take care of every situation and will give your pet the attention they need in your absence. Our boarding facilities are climate controlled. We have 21 indoor/outdoor runs for large dogs and extra-large indoor kennels for small dogs. Dogs boarded in indoor kennels are walked outside 2-3 times a day. We also have a separate, quiet room with "cat condos". We offer obedience classes given by a professional dog trainer. Classes range from group obedience and puppy classes, to one-on-one behavior issue consultations. The classes are held at our facility. Dr. Williams is a 1991 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in the Lee's Summit / Kansas City area since that time. She has practiced in the Lee's Summit area for 17 years and counting. Dr. Williams purchased Southport Animal Hospital in 2008. She lives in Lee's Summit with her 3 dogs and 1 cat Dr. Brett Miles joined Southport Animal Hospital in February 2010 as an associate veterinarian. He is a 2009 graduate of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and his professional interests include small animal surgery and parasitology. He is married and has one pet, a cockatiel. His outside interests include photography, golf, and home theater.
