Founded in 1967, South Technical High School serves more than 1,000 students in grades 10 through 12, and offers more than 30 programs in various technical areas. The school s programs include automotive technology, caption writing, carpentry, cosmetology, electrical trades, firefighting, health sciences and horticulture. Its programs also include laboratory technologies, law enforcement, travel and tourism, network administration, veterinary assistant and welding. The school s technical programs are offered on half- and full-day basis. Additionally, it offers adult education programs that include more than 70 daytime and evening classes in various subject areas, such as automotive, building maintenance, construction, heating, ventilation and practical nursing. The school also offers various personal enrichment classes, including glass etching, sign language and faux finishes for furniture and walls. Located in St. Louis, South Technical High School is one of two technical education high schools operated by Special School District.
