Established in 1947, Sierra Bullets manufactures hunting and target bullets for rifles and handguns. In 1990, the company left its factory in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and moved to Sedalia, Mo. While integrating the old with the new, the move allowed the company to enhance its tool and die shop, upgrade its metallurgical laboratory and quality control systems, redesign processes for washing and polishing bullets and improve its bullet assembly equipment. What is most noted from Sierra Bullets move is the construction of an underground 300-meter test range, which was built as the longest privately owned underground bullet test facility in the world.
