Inspired by Philip Chiang's West Hollywood restaurant, Mandarette, which featured small-portioned Chinese "grazing" dishes, restaurateur Paul Fleming conspired with Chiang to open a contemporary Chinese restaurant. P.F. Chang's first restaurant opened in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1992.
The decor is stylish, with a modern aesthetic and an Asian palette of reds and blacks.
