The Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department provides cultural, educational, instructional, recreational programs and structured activities to residents of all ages. It oversees more than 200 parks, over 50 ornamental fountains, nearly 150 ball diamonds, and approximately 100 tennis courts. The department organizes various outdoor events, and more than 400 recreational and educational programs. It also operates various community centers, including Brush Creek Community Center, Line Creek Community Center, Garrison Community Center and Tony Aguirre Community Center. In addition, the department provides a range of facilities, including playground, ball fields, picnic benches and outdoor water fountains.
