Located in Jefferson City, Mo., the Missouri Ethics Commission is responsible for the enforcement of lobbying, conflict of interest and campaign finance disclosure laws in the state. Founded in 1991, the commission receives and reviews complaints of alleged violations of lobbying, campaign finance disclosure and the conflict of interest statutes. The Missouri Ethics Commission is also responsible for the investigation and referral of complaints to the appropriate prosecuting or disciplinary authority. It also initiates judicial proceedings against the violators of various laws. Additionally, the Missouri Ethics Commission provides information and assistance to lobbyists, elected and appointed officials, and the employees of the state and political subdivisions.
