Lamar High School is a college preparatory learning center that enrolls students in grades 9 through 12. The school offers courses in English, Spanish, history, math, science, vocal music, health and physical education, and communication and fine arts. It also promotes participation in a range of cocurricular activities, including chorus and musical performances. In addition, Lamar High School provides various special education programs for students with speech, learning and hearing disabilities. The school maintains a counseling center that offers several consulting services to students and their parents. Its library media center stocks more than 8,000 volumes of books, periodicals, journals, videotapes and discs. Lamar High School is located in Lamar, Mo., and is a part of the Lamar R-1 School District, which has a population of over 4,000 personnel and serves nearly 1,000 students.
