The Kansas City Anti-Violence Project (KCAVP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advocacy and education on domestic violence, sexual assault, and hate violence to the LGBTQ community in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area. As the only LGBTQ-specific domestic violence and sexual assault service in Missouri, KCAVP aims to bridge the gap by offering support and services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning individuals who have experienced violence or harassment. All of KCAVP's services are confidential and free of charge.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Sarah Cirese-Payton, a clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience in the field, KCAVP is committed to creating a safe and empowered community where LGBTQ individuals can live free from violence and trauma. With a focus on grant administration, program development, and team management, Cirese-Payton brings a wealth of expertise to the organization. KCAVP's mission is to confront violence, trauma, and neglect effectively, providing survivors with the support and respect they deserve. Together with their dedicated board of directors and staff, KCAVP strives to build a more equitable, safe, and socially engaged world for LGBTQIA victim-survivors in Missouri.
