The Board of Education is responsible for the general supervision of schools managed by Jefferson City Public Schools, which is an educational district. The board is accountable to the electorate, as well as serves educational needs. It is also responsible for the development of policies, rules and regulations for general management and administrative actions. The Board of Education evaluates the effectiveness of its policies. In addition, the board is responsible for providing adequate and direct means for keeping the district patrons informed about schools. It designates and employs an auditing firm to prepare an annual audit of the financial, attendance and transportation records of the district.
