The Assessment Department is managed by Jackson County in Missouri. The department is responsible for the valuation of real and personal properties. It revalues property accounts through declaration forms, reviews and audits annually. The Assessment Department also focuses on farm equipment, cars, boats and residential, agricultural and commercial properties. The department is responsible for more than 289,000 real and over 310,000 individual personal property accounts, as well as nearly 28,000 business properties. In addition, it reviews building permits, new plats and taxpayer review requests. The county manages collections, economic development, health, human resources, public works, and finance and purchasing departments.
