History
Jennifer started on the path to becoming a Chinese medicine practitioner through reading Chinese philosophy, and Daoist writings in particular. After reading an especially inspirational passage, she initiated her hands-on training with a program in Shiatsu, a full body acupressure therapy from Japan. Through that program, she learned about Chinese medicine theory and fell in love with that philosophy. She subsequently pursued her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree, beginning in San Francisco and finishing her studies at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR in 2002. She became licensed to practice in 2003 and worked in private practice and public health settings in Portland until 2013. She moved to Kansas City in 2013 and opened her current practice in Midtown. She greatly enjoys bringing her experience as an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner to the Midwest and especially to introducing it to people for the first time.

She utilizes all of the tools of Chinese medicine to create fully customized treatment options including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, cupping, moxibustion and Shiatsu. Her approach is a blend of compassionate exploration and acknowledgement of how her patients' conditions have come into being combined with her strategic perspective as an experienced practitioner. Like most acupuncturists, she works a great deal with pain and other somatic conditions that involve both physical and emotional components. She loves working with patients to help them see and understand the connection between their mind, body and spirit through the lens of Chinese medicine. Jennifer's most successful patients are curious, invested in themselves, open to a new perspective, trusting, and ready to accept the invitation to be an active participant in their own recovery and growth.
