Great Rivers Habitat Alliance (GRHA) is a non-profit organization based in St. Louis, Missouri, dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the region's natural habitats and waterways. With a focus on protecting the Confluence, where the Mississippi and Missouri rivers meet, GRHA works to safeguard wildlife, promote clean water, support agriculture, and ensure flood protection for the communities across St. Louis. Led by Executive Director J. Michael Checkett, a seasoned conservationist with a background in waterfowl biology and research, GRHA aims to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for wildlife and the environment.
Supported by a dedicated Board of Directors, including President Chris Hyams, GRHA collaborates with partners, supporters, and stakeholders to implement various conservation programs and initiatives. These include the DU Easement Program, Missouri Big Rivers Initiative, Great Rivers Environmental Law, and Habitat Restoration projects, among others. By fostering a coalition of like-minded individuals, including farmers, city-dwellers, hunters, and biologists, GRHA strives to protect the Confluence and its surrounding areas for the benefit of both wildlife and the local communities.
