The Golden Ox opened for business on the first floor of the Kansas City Live Stock Exchange building in May of 1949, catering to ranchers and farmers who brought their cattle to the stockyards. It remained a Kansas City destination until it closed in December of 2014. Now, under new ownership, the Golden Ox has undergone a massive renovation that has preserved much of the building's historic integrity and the doors reopened in the summer of 2018.
