Established in 1963, Claymont Elementary School enrolls more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade five. It provides academic instruction in communication arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally conducts art, music, computers, special education, and health and physical education classes. Claymont Elementary School also offers gifted and talented education. It offers a reading recovery program that develops effective reading strategies in students. The school offers a program in instrumental music that includes instruction in playing violin, viola, cello and bass. In addition, Claymont Elementary School has counselors who lead developmental guidance activities and provide counseling services on conflict resolution and disability awareness issues. Its facilities include a playground, cafeteria, media center and gymnasium. The school is located in Ballwin, Mo., and is a part of the Parkway School District.
