Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel Congregation formed in 1960 from a merger of two synagogues. It is a conservative egalitarian congregation, meaning men and women have equal rights and responsibilities. Services are held primarily in Hebrew, though some English is used.
Morning prayers are offered at 7am Mondays through Fridays; at 8:45am Saturdays; and at 8am Sundays and national holidays. The timing of evening prayers varies depending on the time of year.
Mordecai Miller has served as rabbi at the congregation since 1991. Rick Kodner is its president. The congregation regularly provides a conversion class, Tot Shabbat for families with young children and a cantoral soloist, among other offerings. The synagogue also features a museum and a gift shop.
