City of Berkeley operates various departments, such as public works, fire, police, and parks and recreation departments. The city has its administrative office in Berkeley, Mo. Its police department is responsible for the maintenance of law and order, prevention of criminal activities and providing protection to residents and business operators. The department has a staff of more than 45 trained full-time commissioned and patrol officers to provide 24-hour emergency services. Its police department is also responsible for the investigation of crimes and enforcement of all state statues and city ordinances and has the authority to arrest all offenders. Additionally, the public works department of the City of Berkeley is responsible for the development, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, sewer systems and underground storm water lines.
