AIDS Project of the Ozarks, also known as APO, is a nonprofit, community-based organization that serves the residents of more than 25 counties in southwest Missouri. Established in 1983, it oversees a staff of over 30 full- and part-time employees and provides services to nearly 600 individuals and their families with HIV/AIDS. AIDS Project of the Ozarks offers services related to primary and specialty medical care, case management, HIV counseling and testing, medication adherence, and mental health and substance abuse. The organization offers various prevention and educational outreach programs to youth group homes, public schools, churches, and community mental health and substance abuse treatment centers. Additionally, it operates several help lines that provide 24-hour information services. AIDS Project of the Ozarks is located in Springfield, Mo.
