I chose primary care because I enjoy practicing in all areas of medicine. And I like the idea of having a relationship with my patients - watching them grow and lead a healthy life and prevent disease. This is actually a second career for me. Right after high school, I went to work for my dad. I was a welder for about 12 years until I went back to school. And I just got interested in medicine andscience and I wanted to do something that could make a difference. I wasn't real passionate about my last job. I chose to be somewhere where I cared about the work I do. I think it's important that a primary care provider can relate to the patient and understand where they're coming from so that you can help them deal with whatever issues they're experiencing.
