The Office of Special Education, also known as OSE, supports local schools and districts to provide effective educational programs for students with disabilities. It provides a range of educational and enrichment programs for children between the ages of 3 and 20. The office operates data and fiscal management, monitoring and technical assistance, special projects, and autism and policy divisions. The Office of Special Education also operates a support services division that is engaged in processing competitive grant proposals, facilitating traineeships, advertising child find, managing equipment and inventory and handling logistical arrangements for special education activities. The office is a part of the Mississippi Department of Education, which develops curriculum for schools that provides educational programs for students in kindergarten through grade 12 in Mississippi.
