St. Joseph Catholic School, founded in 1870 by the Sisters of Mercy, is a private, coeducational institute. The school enrolls more than 400 students in grades seven through 12. Its curriculum includes English, theology, math, science, social studies, music, fine arts, computer technology and physical education. It also offers elective courses in theater, psychology, sociology, journalism, business law and foreign languages, such as Latin and Spanish. The school provides a special Christian Service Program for its students. It offers various activities, such as speech and debate team, St. Joseph Catholic school band and the International Thespian Society. It also offers library, computer laboratory facilities, and cafeteria service for its students. St. Joseph Catholic School is accredited by the Mississippi State Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
