Established in 1817, the Mississippi Secretary of State is a service and information agency that performs various statutory functions, including the administration and supervision of public lands and the issuance of documents and publications. It also has the Support Services Division, which provides administrative support in the areas of personnel, budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, telecommunications, mail safety, internal and external policy, strategic planning and property control.
