History
Dr. William Strickland is a native Oxonian. Upon completing four years of optometry school at the University of Houston and associating with Drs. John Davis and Robert Vodvarka in Dallas, Texas, he opened his practice of optometry in Oxford, Mississippi, in the fall of 1987. The response by the community was overwhelming and the practice quickly grew. With this growth Dr. Strickland became involved as a leader in optometry in the state, serving as president of the Mississippi Optometric Association, president of the Northwest Optometric Society and administrator for Vision Source in Mississippi. Local leadership opportunities by Dr. Strickland include president of Oxford Endowment for Public Education and board representation on the United Way of LOU, Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, Rotary Club of Oxford and St. Peter's Epsicopal Vestry. In particular Dr. Strickland enjoys Central America medical mission trips, having participated in numerous adventures over the past 15 years.
