Established in 1999, North Mississippi State Hospital is a publicly funded health care center that is owned and operated by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. The hospital is a 50-plus-bed facility that offers psychiatric care services to men and women. It is a short-term care facility that serves more than 15 counties in northern Mississippi. North Mississippi State Hospital provides services in the areas of schizophrenia and mood, anxiety, personality and substance use disorders. The hospital employs a staff of over 120 individuals and offers family education programs. It conducts sessions in the areas of alcohol and drug dependence, hallucinations and mental illnesses. North Mississippi State Hospital is located in Tupelo, Miss.
