Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. (LEACEF) is a non-profit organization based in Forest, MS. With a mission to inspire positive developments and reforms through community education, engagement, empowerment, and social justice, LEACEF offers a range of programs and services to promote change agent leadership. Their programs include emergency response services, tackling legal inequities, youth leadership development, reading assessment and remediation, free book distribution, healthy luncheons, teacher award grants, school supply distribution, African American historical society initiatives, and community action for youth empowerment. Founded in 2011, LEACEF builds upon the 30 years of professional community services provided by the W.L. Slaughter and O.K. Slaughter Memorial Foundation. The organization serves over 5,000 families in 15 Mississippi County outreach areas, including Scott, Leake, Smith, Jasper, Attala, Newton, Neshoba, Lauderdale, Madison, Rankin, Hinds, Yazoo, Forrest, Issaquena, and Sharkey.
