The Jackson-Hinds Library System offers microfilm and hard copies of newspaper articles and magazines from national and regional newspapers and publications for the residents of its community. The system has more than 15 branches. Jackson-Hinds Library System s Friends of the Library works to increase community interest and involvement in the system through programs, fundraisers and volunteer activities. The system provides literacy services through its mobile family literacy unit. It also participates in the cooperative networks of libraries. Its libraries offer books, magazines, audiotapes and videocassettes , DVDs, e-books, government documents, electronic subscriptions and databases. In addition, it offers computers for word processing and accessing the Internet. The system s libraries arrange a range of programs for children, families, teenagers and youths. Located in Jackson, Miss., it organizes story sessions, children's reading programs and special events.
