The Thomson Township Esko Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1949, is a dedicated group of local men and women who have been protecting the lives and property of their neighbors from the perils of fire for over 70 years. Starting out with limited resources, they have grown to maintain an excellent fleet of modern fire and rescue apparatus, responding to about 100 alarms annually, with approximately 70 of them being rescue or medical emergencies.
Supported by a women's auxiliary and deeply appreciated by the taxpayers of the Township, the department takes pride in its history and the tradition established by its founders. With a roster of up to 35 members, including brothers, fathers, and sons, they continue to volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the safety of their community. Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Volunteer Firefighter First Responder to further strengthen their team.
