The Richfield Historical Society was founded in 1967 by the Minnesota Valley Women's Club and is the keeper of Richfield's history. The Society and the History Center are all housed in the Bartholomew House, which was the first homested established in what is now Richfield. Richfield was one of the earliest farm settlements in the Minnesota territory. House and museum tours are available and events are often held here as well. These organizations work to preserve Richfield's history so that it can be enjoyed and appreciated by all people.
