Oakdale Nature Preserve's 220 acres consist mostly of forest land with a small space for park amenities. Visitors can walk through prairie land, past mature trees and a 28-acre lake. Kids can jump around on playground equipment and anyone can play tennis or basketball. The site also contains the Oakdale Discovery Center, a space used for recreation department activities, meetings or receptions and nature education. There is a parking lot at the main entrance off of Hadley Avenue, as well as street parking on the Granada Avenue side of the preserve.
