Lookout Bar & Grill
Mike Kinnan, one of the owners of The Lookout Bar & Grill, accepts Broaster's Golden Chicken Award from Ron Schumacher, National Sales Manager for Broaster Company. Broaster Company, a leading manufacturer and supplier of foodservice equipment, fresh and frozen foods, and branded food programs, presented The Lookout Bar and Grill in Maple Grove, Minnesota with its Golden Chicken Award in a ceremony held at the Minneapolis area restaurant. The Golden Chicken award is presented by Broaster Company to a select number of foodservice operators across the country that have shown exemplary merchandising skills in the promotion and sale of Genuine Broaster Chicken , the company's signature product. Lookout located at 8672 Pineview Lane North in Maple Grove, was established in 1958 by Bob Kinnan. Originally focusing on live country music seven nights a week, over the years The Lookout expanded into other areas, adding a sandwich menu in 1960, an outdoor patio in 1965, a liquor license and building expansion in 1968, a noon lunch service in 1983, and Genuine Broaster Chicken in 1996, after purchasing their first Broaster pressure fryer to produce the popular product. Last Spring The Lookout added two large capacity Broaster pressure fryers to meet their in-house cooking needs, plus refurbished two earlier medium capacity units for use in their catering trailer, which they take to fairs, carnivals, and other outdoor events throughout the summer. Says Mike Kinnan, Bob Kinnan's son and one of the current owners, in summer we sell a boatload of broasted pork chops on a stick out of that trailer. Our broasted bone-in split chicken breasts are also a big favorite. TSBL Distributing in in Stillwater MN, the authorized Broaster distributor for Minnesota, provides sales and service of Broaster products to the popular establishment. The Lookout, having grown to 70 employees strong, now cooks up an average of about 1750 lbs. of chicken per week. That's in addition to other menu selections which include a wide variety of steaks, ribs, and seafood entrees. In addition to offering on-site private dining, The Lookout does catering for weddings, graduations, business meetings, picnics, barbeques, anniversaries, birthdays, fundraisers, grand openings, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and funerals, plus offers two newly remodeled banquet rooms for smaller group functions. Live music is still offered as well, with bands scheduled every Friday and Saturday night and Karaoke on Thursdays.
