Joyce Preschool is a non-profit organization in Minneapolis, MN that has been providing high-quality preschool education to families in the Uptown neighborhood since 1966. Founded by Ruth Helen Marks, the preschool offers equal opportunities for early education regardless of a family's ability to pay. With a commitment to removing barriers, Joyce Preschool became the only fully bilingual preschool in Minneapolis in 1994, offering a two-way immersion approach with equal numbers of English and Spanish-speaking children.
Over the years, Joyce Preschool has expanded its programs and doubled in size, refining its two-language concept and continuing to provide scholarships and transportation to ensure access to early childhood education. In 2012, the preschool opened its first satellite classroom at Windom Dual Immersion Elementary, becoming the first private preschool to operate in a Minneapolis public school. In 2013, Joyce Preschool relocated to a space within Park Avenue United Methodist Church, where it continues to serve the community and fulfill its mission of educating children and changing lives.
