Ian F. Parney, M.D., Ph.D., is a neurosurgeon at Mayo Clinic’s Rochester, Minnesota campus, with special interests in malignant brain tumor surgery. His clinical focus includes brain tumors including gliomas, glioblastomas and other primary malignant brain tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and meningioma's. Dr. Parney specializes in surgery for tumors in critical brain locations; surgery using intraoperative MRI; mapping motor and speech function during surgery, including awake brain surgery; Gamma Knife radiosurgery; and laser ablation for brain tumors. Dr. Parney is a scientist and cancer researcher. He coordinates clinical trials of brain tumor vaccines and other immune therapies, authors and publishes expert content in medical and scientific journals. He is active in education, providing supervision for students, residents and fellows. Dr. Parney is the Mayo Clinic enterprise chair for neurosurgery research. He is also a member of the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine Admissions Oversight Committee and has leadership roles in multiple national neurosurgical and neuro-oncology organizations.
