Hospice of the Twin Cities, based in Minneapolis, offers comprehensive care focused on easing the physical and emotional pain that accompanies terminal illness. Established in 1993, hospice team members are professionals who specialize in meeting the individualized needs of terminally ill patients and their families. It coordinates the provision of medical equipment, supplies and medications for pain relief and symptom management related to terminal diagnosis. On-call services are provided by the hospice nurses 24-hours a day. Health aides assist patients with personal care and light housekeeping. Trained volunteers provide a variety of services focused on companionship and support for the patient and respite for the caregiver. Counseling services offer emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. Hospice of the Twin Cities bereavement counselors assist the family with grief and loss issues for up to 18-months following the death of the patient.
