The Division of Fish and Wildlife is governed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The division promotes habitat protection and development on public and private lands. It recommends fishing, hunting and other wildlife-related regulations. The Division of Fish and Wildlife also conducts censuses and surveys on various wildlife specials. The division s fisheries section is responsible for managing various species of fish in more than 15,000 miles of streams and rivers. It acquires, develops and administers wildlife management areas. The Division of Fish and Wildlife offers hunter recruitment and retention programs in coordination with several youth groups and hunting organizations. In addition, the division operates a license center that issues licenses and recreational vehicle registrations.
