Located in Edina, Minn., Countryside Elementary School is part of Edina Public Schools. Established more than 35 years ago, it enrolls more than 500 students in grades kindergarten through five. It follows its traditional continuous progress program, a multiage program where students are with the same teacher for two years and within the same family from grades two through five. The elementary instructional program addresses the curriculum areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, health and safety, music, art and physical education. Its integrated language arts program includes reading, process writing, spelling and grammar and a hands-on computational skills program in math. It additionally provides are a wide variety of extracurricular programs, that include band and orchestra, math Olympiad, safety patrol, Edina community education and a science extravaganza.
