CURA, also known as the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, is an all-university applied research and technical assistance center that helps the University of Minnesota fulfill its land grant and urban missions. Established in 1968, it connects faculty and student researchers with nonprofit organizations, businesses, neighborhoods, local governments and state agencies in Minnesota. CURA supports research and publishes policy-oriented reports on a range of urban and regional issues. It administers Neighborhood Planning for Community Revitalization (NPCR), the Center for Community and Regional Research (CCRR), Community Growth Options (U-CGO) and the Minneapolis Neighborhood Information System (MNIS). The center also offers the Communiversity program, which features approximately 200 hours of graduate student assistance for community-based nonprofit organizations. CURA is located in Minneapolis.
