It serves the community as a bookstore carrying alternative books and periodicals for people involved in South African, Irish, Native American and other political issues. The bookstore provides works of social resistance authored by Karl Marx, Frederick Engels, Audre Lorde, John Zerzan and Noam Chomsky. It acts as a library of books, periodicals, files and videos for in-house use and lending out. It also acts as an office for projects undertaken by its members, including the publication of the Arise! newspaper, group meetings and cultural celebrations.
