As a master upholsterer, his eye for detail was acute, making him an admiral instructor later for his son-in-law, Sam Snider, founder of Homespun Furniture. With his wife Irma by his side, an interior designer and also an accomplished seamstress in her own right, they set up a business that has operated for almost 60 years.
