The First Baptist Church of Ferndale is located on Pinecrest Drive, just north of West Nine Mile Road. The church was built in 1927, adding an educational wing in 1958. The congregation size runs about 60 to 70 for a Sunday service. Bible study and Bible classes are offered as well. The First Baptist Church also runs a pantry, serving 200 families, which translates into 400 to 500 individuals. The pantry is stocked with the help of Gleaners and donations. To receive food from the pantry you must be an Oakland County resident. The church also participates with 10 other Oakland County churches as a warming center where the church, for two weeks in the winter, takes in homeless, offering them a hot meal, warm socks and a place to sleep for the night.
