St. John Lutheran Church, established in 1852, has been a prominent worship facility in Saginaw, MI for 168 years. However, as of November 2020, the church closed its doors and its building was subsequently sold, with members transferring to other congregations, such as Our Saviour ELCA in Saginaw Township.
In addition to its worship services, St. John Lutheran Church was known for hosting the 4th Saturday Breakfast and housing the Saginaw Metro Ministries Food Pantry. However, as of January 2022, the breakfast event has ended, and the food pantry has transitioned to Ascension St Mary's Center of Hope. The church's legacy continues through the St. John Trust Foundation, which remains active.
