In the heart of World War II, Spicer Group worked to predict and brace against inevitable flooding in the Sagniaw, Mich., area, obtained grants for clean up after the floods and assisted the community in implementing improvements to prevent future damage from floods. During the 1950s, the company prepared local subdivisions for development, from surveying and platting to constructing water, wastewater and drainage systems. In 1997, Spicer Group merged with EDI in St. Johns, Mich., expanding the service area. Today, Spicer Group offers are community planning, transportation, electrical, utilities and water, wastewater and watershed management. The company employs more than 140 people and is headquartered in Saginaw, with offices in Detroit, Marquette, St. Johns and Caro, Mich.
