Where Do Black Women Go to Grieve is a culturally specific grief support group in Detroit, MI, founded in 2015 by Espy Thomas. This unique support group provides a safe and sacred space for women of color to navigate their new normal after experiencing a traumatic loss or living loss, working to pick up the pieces and embrace life without their loved ones.
With bi-weekly meetings held at Sweet Potato Sensations, this group aims to normalize mental health in the black and brown community, while also working to lower the barriers to wellness and change the stigma surrounding counseling and mental health in the Black Community.
