ROBERT M. SODERSTROM, M.D. Dr. Soderstrom is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and completed residency training there in internal medicine. He then gained admission to the dermatology program at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he trained until 1980. He is Board Certified in both internal medicine and dermatology. Many specialty boards are now requiring doctors to re-certify their specialty status. As a result, Dr. Soderstrom took and passed the American Board of Dermatology Re-certification Examination in 1999 and 2009 and so updated his "Board Certified" status. Since 1980 Dr. Soderstrom has been in private practice in Genesee County and has been committed to this community. He is a member of the medical staff at all three of the area's major medical institutions: McLaren, Hurley, and Genesys. He was the primary dermatology educator for the family practice and internal medicine residency programs at Hurley and Genesys Medical Centers for many years and is a clinical professor of medicine with the Michigan State University School of Human Medicine. Dr. Soderstrom is: - Past President, Genesee County Medical Society - Board Member, Genesee County Medical Society (continuously since 1988) - Fellow, American College of Physicians - Fellow, American Academy of Dermatology - Past Chairman, Task Force on Environment, Michigan State Medical Society Dr. Soderstrom participates as a consulting specialist for the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic. He has been past-president of the Genesee Audubon Society and has been personally involved in many environmental issues over the years, particularly the effort to improve Great Lakes water quality. He has been Board Member of the Year for the local branch of the American Lung Association and received the Michigan State Medical Society's Community Service Award. Dr. Soderstrom was born and raised in Illinois and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois. He is married to Susan and has three children: Sara, Paul, and Lance.
