The Ottawa County Road Commission was established by the Michigan state law to be responsible for all roads within Ottawa County, with the exception of all State trunk lines and streets within cities. The commission performs maintenance activities, such as snow plowing, grass cutting and shoulder grading, under contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation. The cities receive funds to maintain and improve the streets within their boundaries. The only statutory role played by the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners is to appoint a Road Commissioner every two years. Its main office is located in Grand Haven, Mich.
