History
The Northeast Michigan Consortium is a governmental organization formed under Michigan Public Act 7. Member counties include Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego and Presque Isle, with the central administrative offices located in Onaway. The purpose of the Consortium is to act as a representative of the counties in the provision of employment, training, and related economic development activities and services. Supported by the State of Michigan, various federal grants and other sources as appropriate and delivered through the eight county Michigan Works! Service Centers.

Michigan Works! is an employment assistance center offering FREE services to improve the local workforce. We partner with Job Seekers to enhance education and career opportunities. Services include: resume assistance, interview coaching, job search guidance, career counseling, career fairs, financial aid guidance, adult education, Veteran assistance and more. We partner with Businesses to develop recruiting and retention strategies. Services include: qualified applicant referrals, employee recruitment, career fair hosting, interview space, on-the-job training can provide wage reimbursement, assistance with job postings and current labor market info, government contracting assistance and more.
