The Michigan Townships Association is a nonprofit organization that helps more than 6,500 member township officials. It provides information on all facets of township operations and responds to requests for information by forwarding appropriate materials, researching questions, sending written letters, answering telephone queries and making presentations. The association also provides several sample documents, including ordinances, job descriptions, contracts and agreements. It offers nearly 50 educational programs to help officials in providing more efficient services to their township residents. In addition, the association provides compensation information for numerous township offices and employment positions. The Michigan Townships Association has been operational since 1953 and is located in Lansing, Mich.
