The Michigan Education Special Services Association, also known as MESSA, is a nonprofit, membership organization that is created and governed by school employees. It enables school staff members to meet the individual academic, social and recreational needs of each of member schools students. The association is established by the Michigan Education Association as a voluntary employee beneficiary association for Michigan school employees. It offers a group insurance program that include life, salary protection, medical, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, as well as tax-deferred annuities for more than 30,000 members. The Michigan Education Special Services Association has a membership of over 100,000 Michigan educational employees.
