Life EMS provides ambulance services to greater Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ionia and Newaygo, Mich. The company maintains a fleet of 40-plus ambulances, equipped with the latest pre-hospital care equipment, including portable heart monitors, defibrillators with cardiac pacing, glucometers, pulse oximetry and KED extrication devices. These units are dispatched from its state-of-the-art communications center, which handles thousands of emergency calls every year. Life EMS also maintains the Metro Chair/Mobility Division, which utilizes nearly 30 vans to provide wheelchair transportation for the disabled. As another community service, the company also offers first aid and CPR classes. Founded in 1980, Life EMS is an inaugural member of the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services.
